Track-keeping on Departure from and Arrival to Brussels National Airport
(information at the request of the Civil Aviation Authority)

  1. Pilots departing from or arriving to EBBR are reminded of the need to comply with the published noise abatement procedures, together with SIDs and STARs respectively, specified in AIP Belgium and G.D. of Luxembourg.
  2. The Department of Transport regards ensuring compliance with noise abatement procedures, SIDs and STARs as an important means of minimizing noise nuisance. The attention of pilots and operators is drawn to the need to maintain precise compliance with turning points, tracks/radials and DME interceptions.
  3. A noise and track-keeping monitoring system (NMS) is in operation at EBBR to monitor adherence to the routes. Operators of aircraft which indicate substantial or persistent divergences from the prescribed routes (after allowing for normal navigation tolerances) may be asked to account for the incident(s).
  4. The prescribed routes may be disregarded only for the purpose of avoiding immediate danger or complying with instructions from ATC.
  5. The attention ol all operators is drawn to the requirement to comply with Low Power/Low Drag techniques and Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) procedures published for EBBR (see AIP EBBR AD 2.20 Local Aerodrome Regulations and EBBR AD 2.21 Noise Abatement Procedures) in order to minimize noise disturbance during intermediate and final approach.

AIC 07/1998 is hereby cancelled.
