1  — Introduction

The purpose of this AIC is to provide information concerning the implementation of dynamic obstacle lighting en obstacles lower than 150 M AGL within the Belgian Military Helicopter Training Areas (HTA’s). See ENR 5.2 § 2 Helicopter Training Areas.

2  — Main body

In accordance to national regulation, implemented via CIR GDF 03, all aeronautical obstacles in BEL military helicopter training areas are equipped with night lighting as from 25 M and with day lighting as from 57 M AGL. However, the owner of the obstacle can decide to turn off the lighting:

1. outside the MIL default flying window;
2. and if the obstacle is lower then 150 M AGL.

Additionally Defence can decide to adhoc activate the obstacle lighting in order to support unplanned aerial operations such as SAR scramble.
